Boris Labbè was born in 1987 in Lannemazan (Alti Pirenei, Francia). He commute between France and Spain. He studied at Belle Arti School of Tarbes (ESACT) and at Animation Cinema School of Angoulême (EMCA).
His work has been exposed in Contemporary Art exhibition worldwide (space like: OK Center for Contemporary Art, Linz; Aichi Triennale, Nagoya; National Art Center, Tokyo; Cinémathèque Québécoise, e Erarta Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art, San Pietroburgo.), as well as in over one hundred international festival about cinema and video (like Festival di Hiroshima, Trickfilm Festival e Animafest).
He has received many awards for his work, such as the jury special prize at the Festival of Annecy Festival Internazionale del Cinema d’Animazione in 2012 for “Kyrielle”, the award for best video installation at the Bologna Robot Festival and at the St. Pietrogurbo Multivision Festival for “Danse macabre” (2013). This video installation, exhibited in Montreal, is now part of the Cinémathèque Québécoise collection. After a short tour all over the world and a lot of prizes in renowned festival (Annecy, Fantoche, BIAF, ritaglio Fest, Stoccarda …), his last short film “rizoma” (2015), produced by Sacrebleu Productions, received the Grand Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival in Tokyo and the Goden Nica Animation at the Festival Ars Electronica of Linz.
