Rimas Sakalauskas is a visual artist, he was born in 1985 and works in multimedia sector (animazione, live performances and installations, also specialises in CG, projection mapping, hologram techniques). He studied Photography and Media Art at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and Royal College of Arts, London.
His video-sets were presented in various theaters in Poland and Iceland, and in some concerts in Europe and Asia.The most important experiences are the video projections for the show “Independent people” (direct by Thorleifur Arnarsson) in the National Drama Theatre of Iceland, Reykjavík, for the Onute Narbutaitė “Cornetto” Opera (direct by Gintaras Varnas) in the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and for the Philip Glass concert American Four Seasons” in Lione, France. He has participated in several festivals: Oslo Screen Festival, Festival International du Film de La Rochelle, International Film Festival Rotterdam – IFFR, festival Cronosfera of Turin, MEM festival Bilbao, Interfilm Berlin.
The most important awards are: the first place in the media art Grand Prix awards in Open Category, presented by Turku (Finland) – Cultural Capital of Europe 2011 and 2013, and the award for Best installation at the IV International art fair ARTVILNIUS’13.
