The objective of Project Pollination vs Pollution, developed by Artist Daniela Di Maro with students at the Liceo Artistico Statale di Brera in Milan, is to reflect on the pollution emergency.

The work is based on the drastic decrease in the number of pollinating insects caused by mankind’s activities and the serious consequences that everyone should be informed about. In fact, the famous phrase – attributed (perhaps) erroneously to Albert Einstein – states: “If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live.” It is a prediction that anticipated our current condition.

The lab encourages students not only to investigate a crucial issue, but also to develop a video-art work based on an idea, developed through a storyboard, with visual, real or imaginary, concepts filmed by students with tablets and smartphones.

Class 3 EHA – Audiovisual and Multimedia curriculum from the Liceo Artistico Statale di Brera, directed by Emilia Ametrano, will present the project at the Media Art Festival. Activities are coordinated by Professor Michael Rotondi.
