For the BNL Media Art Festival, artists Elisa Turco Liveri and Salvatore Insana, Dehors/Audela since 2010, are producing a video art work with ten students from the Liceo scientifico Augusto Righi.
During the first phase, the students and artists are viewing materials and videos to understand the world of digital art and performance.
The theme of the video is the relationship between oneself and space. To shape these relations, the students are developing brief performances that transform emotions into actions. If school represents a second house, this sensation can be expressed by reproducing daily, domestic actions, such as looking in the mirror before going to sleep. Thus, the classroom becomes a bedroom and the desk, a mirror, which reflects the face of a classmate following our movements.
According to Prof Mara Udina, who coordinates the collaboration between the school and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, the production of short videos edited with digital programmes is an excellent opportunity to address issues that the official school curriculum does not include, as well as a chance to draw new connections between subjects, such as art and physics, that are often seen as completely juxtaposed.
