At the intersection of art, research, interaction design and communication, Salvatore Iaconesi (engineer, hacker, artist, designer, TED Fellow, Eisenhower Fellow, Yale World Fellow, Prof. in Interaction Design at ISIA Design University in Florence) and Oriana Persico (communication scientist, cyber ecologist, Prof of Transmedia Design at ISIA Florence) have been working together since 2006, under the brand name of AOS – Art is Open Source, giving birth over the years to works and performances of global interest, united by the exploration and observations of contemporary technology and its continuous mutation.
University education, the creation of artificial intelligences and interactive systems, the animation of global performance through media, cities, bodies and practices of everyday life, are just some of the tools used by the duo to suggest scenarios that allow systematic reinvention of ordinary reality: a possibilistic view of the world in which art can act as a catalyst for science, politics, anthropology and economics.
Salvatore and Oriana have participated in festivals and international events, exposing worldwide in museums and galleries. They regularly contribute to the scientific community through academic teaching at several universities, Institutes and Masters, the production of publications and scientific articles, and participation in international conferences and events.
